Congress Tackles Budget Legislation Amid Partisan Challenges

Members of both houses of Congress are continuing to work on proposed legislation to set the government’s budget for this year and beyond.

Both the house and senate are preparing their own proposals and then will get together in a process called reconciliation.

Fourth District Congressman Bruce Westerman explained the process when he appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show.

He went on to say this.

Morning Show host said that with the split between Democrats and Republicans, so it makes sense for budget matters to require less than 60 votes in the senate.

Horne then asked Westerman for his take on what is going to happen. Republicans control both houses but with very slim margins so to get anything done, every Republican has got to be in agreement.
