Two Pine Bluff residents were arrested Tuesday on drug and weapons charges.
Laquita McDowell, 28, and Jeffery Ventress, 40, were taken into custody after a traffic stop by an Arkansas State Police trooper who was working with Tri-County Drug Task Force investigators.
Investigators had targeted Ventress who is currently out on bond on drug related charges and the traffic stop was conducted after Ventress and others were seen getting into a vehicle.
During a court hearing on Wednesday, a deputy prosecutor explained the allegations.
Another occupant of the vehicle was released and McDowell signed a consent to search.
McDowell, who is currently out on bond on a charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member will have to post a $25,000 cash only after Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney ruled prosecutors have probable cause to charge her with possession of a controlled substance and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.
A bond of $150,000 cash only for Ventress on probable cause of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, being a felon in possession of a firearm and three counts of possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and Schedule 6 controlled substance with purpose to deliver.
Prosecutors said Ventress has four or more prior felony convictions and is currently out on a $150,000 cash only bond on drug and weapons related allegations.
McDowell and Ventress were told to come back to court April 16.
