A $25,000 bond was set Friday for a man accused of stealing a generator from a construction site.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Thomas Reynolds, 44, with theft of property.

Reading from an affidavit by Sheriff’s Lt. Dennis Kendall, Prosecuting Attorney S. Kyle Hunter said deputies were sent to Watson Chapel School where they viewed a video of a Buick automobile pull into the parking lot and park next to a construction fence.

Kendall reported that deputies waited on Reynolds to come out of the store and took him into custody.

When he was questioned, he admitted taking the generator.

Spradlin said Reynolds has “four or five” prior felony convictions for theft and forgery convictions.

He was told to come back to court Jan. 31.
