Bonds of $25,000 each were set Friday for two people accused of stealing copper wire from a parked utility truck.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bonds after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge David Robertson, 39, of Mt. Ida and Kandance Loetschea, 35, of Rison with felony theft of property.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Sgt. Keith Banks, Deputy Prosecutor Britaney Akel said at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, police were sent to South Camden Road to assist a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy with a traffic stop.

The owners of the trucks were contacted and reported that the value of the wire stolen was in excess of $1,000.

Akel said Loetschea is currently on probation in Cleveland County on a drug related charge.

Robertson and Loetschea were told to come back to court July 9.
