Reading from an affidavit by Detective Sgt. Keith Banks, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said the investigation started when a sheriff’s deputy took a report that an ATV had been stolen from a residence on Old Star Road. The owner said he did not file a report immediately because he was waiting to hear from a friend.

Banks reported that a female who was with Washington said she had been with him and rode the ATV from where it had been reported stolen to the location where it was found.

Akel told the court that Washington had a previous conviction for theft by receiving in 2022. He was told to come back to court Feb. 28.
