Attempts to renew the five-eights cent tax, commonly called the Go Forward tax have failed twice in the past six months, as has a new three-eights cent tax devoted to public safety. Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington has been a strong supporter of the efforts to extend the current tax, which will now expire in September of next year.

Appearing on the Oldies 1013 morning show Tuesday, Washington was asked where does the city go from here now that the tax extension has been defeated.

Washington said the partnership with Go Forward Pine Bluff and the Public Private Partnership has brought private dollars that helped move the city forward and benefitted us.
