A reported domestic disturbance that began at a location on U.S. 65 Friday afternoon led to a high speed chase and the eventual arrest of the suspect.

Marquis Lane, 37, was taken into custody after he jumped out a window of a house on West 40th Avenue and attempted to flee on foot before police caught him.

During a court hearing Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said at 4:22 p.m., police were sent to Highway 65 south where the victim said she and her boyfriend, Lane, had gotten into an altercation and said he told her he was going to kill her and her kids, then kill himself by blowing his brains out.

Detective Keith Banks reported that the victim told police that Lane could be at a location on West 17th Avenue and when officers got there, they saw the car parked in front of the house.

Akel said Lane is currently out on bond after being charged with felony third-degree domestic battery in 2022 involving the same victim.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 cash only bond for Lane Monday after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with terroristic threatening, endangering the welfare of a minor and felony fleeing. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim or her son and told to come back to court Nov. 28.
