High School football kicks off Friday night and no game draws more attention that the rivalry between the Sheridan Yellowjackets and the White Hall Bulldogs.

Because of the excessive heat, the game time has been moved from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again this year, the winner will take possession of the Highway 270 trophy, sponsored by FBT Bank and Deltaplex Radio.

Scott Ray of FBT Bank, who came up with the idea of creating the trophy, talked about it when he appeared on the Oldies 1013 morning show Wednesday.

Ray went on to say that the trophy that will be presented to the winner this year is a new one and he explained why.

He has been on the White Hall School Board for 17 years and talked about the decision of the board to hire Mallott.

Morning show host Greg Horne said Mallett didn’t want to make the camp about him and Ray agreed.
