Jefferson County’s revenue is continuing to grow compared to a year ago

Jefferson County’s revenue is continuing to increase compared to a year ago, and according to the monthly report from August, the county has received more than $134 million which is nearly $55 million more than at the same time last year.

County Treasurer Vonysha Goodwin talked to Deltaplex News about that.

Expenditures through the first six months of 2013 were just over 111 million compared to $52.4 million for the same period in 2022.

Looking at particular categories, the Public Safety Sales Tax fund has $3.3 million available to spend now compared to just over $222,000 on July 31, 2022. That tax was projected to collect $3.3 million this year compared to $3.1 million in 2022.

The Detention Facilities Maintenance and Operation Fund shows $2.1 million available compared to $209,000 in 2022. That fund was projected to collect $2.78 million this year.

Jefferson County’s share of revenue from the Saracen Casino was $198,000.
