A $50,000 cash only was set Wednesday for a Jefferson County man accused of hitting his girlfriend with a pipe and busting the windshield of her car.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Timothy Evans, 54, with second-degree domestic battery.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Sheriff’s Investigator Lt. Kaylon McDaniel, Deputy Prosecutor Lisa McGriff said Deputy Riley Ramirez was sent to a reported armed disturbance at 7700 Old Warren Road Monday.

While he was in route, dispatchers reported that there had been a previous call about a disturbance involving a male and female in a blue Mustang and Ramirez saw a blue Mustang headed n the opposite direction and conducted a traffic stop.

Ramirez reported that the female had bruises on her arms and legs, was bleeding, and also had red marks on her chest.

When Evans was questioned, he admitted breaking the windshield on the car but said he did so because the victim was trying to run over him. He also denied putting his hands on her.

McGriff told the court that since 1986, Evans has had seven felony convictions in Arkansas, had drug convictions in Texas, and has three pending felony cases for which he is out on bond.  Evans was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled.
