A $50,000 bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff woman accused of bringing drugs into the adult detention center.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Katlyn Byers, 33, with furnishing prohibited articles and possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said jail officials received information that Byers, who was being held at the jail on a misdemeanor warrant was using drugs while she was locked up in a cell.

Alexander said Byers has several prior felony convictions and Kearney told Byers the Department of Community Corrections had issued an absconder warrant, alleging she had violated conditions of her parole. She will be held without bond pending a hearing to determine if she should be sent back to prison to serve the rest of her sentence.

She was told to come back to court on March 24.
