$5,000 bond set Friday for White Hall man accused of dragging and beating girlfriend out of her vehicle and damaging the car.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 36-year-old Markise Lane with domestic battery third-degree second offense.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Chris Wieland, Deputy prosecutor Beth Carson said that on October 26th, at approximately 9:20 am, officers were dispatched to South Murdell Street for a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers received a statement from the victim.

Carson said that Lane has a previous domestic battery charge that happened on January 15th of this year.

Bridgeforth granted the request of a $5,000 secured bond for Lane and a no-contact order with the victim. Lane said that he would represent himself.
