26 Star City students’ artwork included in regional art show

Twenty-six Star City School District students from Jimmy Brown Elementary School and Star City High School have their artwork included in the 2022 Arkansas Art Educators Southeast Regional Art Show at the University of Arkansas at Monticello sponsored by the Arkansas Art Educators Association.

The exhibit will be on display in the Spencer Gallery at the Fine Arts Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello until April. A reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 3 at 2 pm. The public is invited to attend.

Jimmy Brown Elementary students who placed in the art show include Judd McGriff, 3rd place, in the kindergarten division; Khloe Lunsford, 3rd place in the first-grade division; Tristan Cordova, 2nd place, in the third-grade division; and Bella Holloway, 1st place in the fifth-grade division.

Other Jimmy Brown Elementary students who have artwork in the regional art show include Jon Wesley Riley, kindergarten; Kamryn Thompson, first grade; Brody Rodgers, second grade; Destiny Smith, second grade; Kilby Glasscock, third grade; Brandon Torrecillas, fourth grade; Lily Winter, fourth grade; James Carter Rook, fourth grade; and Jamison Blakeslee, fifth grade

The Jimmy Brown Elementary School students are under the instruction of art teacher Suzi Davis.

Star City High School students who placed in the art show include Emma Kelley, 1st place, in the ninth-grade division; Cooper Burr, 2nd place, in the ninth-grade division; Ayshiah Allen, 3rd place, in the ninth-grade division; AnDraya Craig, 4th place, in the ninth-grade division; Myia Morris, 3rd place, in the tenth-grade division; Abby Mullikin, 4th place, in the ninth-grade division; and Lucy Scott, 1st place, in the 12th-grade division.

For placing first in the 12th-grade division, Lucy Scott will receive one-year tuition to the University of Arkansas-Monticello.

Other Star City High School students with artwork in the regional art show include Ayshiah Allen, ninth grade; Clint Newton, tenth grade; Kaylee Dunn, tenth grade; Chance Eifling, eleventh grade; Anna Mondragon, twelfth grade; Jada Womble, twelfth grade; and Abrienna Pope, twelfth grade.

The Star City High School students are under the instruction of art teacher Roger Darren High.

The 2022 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show includes artwork from students in kindergarten through 12th grade in schools in Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Union counties.
