A $25,000 cash-only bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man on drug and weapons-related charges.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Timothy Mazique, 36, with being a felon in possession of a firearm, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver.

Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson told the court that on Thursday, Tri-County Drug Task Force Investigator Joseph O’Neal went to 22nd Avenue and Olive Street to back up Sgt. Cortney Kelly on a possible disturbance.

O’Neal reported that Mazique was asked for his driver’s license or identification, and he went to his vehicle to look for it. While there, investigators noticed a strong odor of suspected marijuana.

Carson said Mazique has similar charges pending. He said he would hire his own attorney.
