A reported theft in progress Thursday resulted in the arrest of a Pine Bluff man who told police he was trying to support himself because he was homeless.

During a court hearing Friday, Deputy Prosecutor MIrcha King explained what James Dixon, 55, was accused of doing.

King said Dixon had an extensive criminal history dating back to 1982 and because of that history, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $25,000 bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with breaking or entering.

Dixon, who is currently on parole, will also be held without bond for an alleged violation of that parole.
