A $10,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man accused of being involved in the theft of several vehicles that were later sold to a salvage company.

Jefferson County Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond for James Phillips, 42, after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with breaking or entering and theft of property.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Corey Wilfong, Deput Prosecutor Joe West said the allegations go back to June of this year when a person named Dylan Medlock, who is the nephew of Phillips was arrested relating to the theft of vehicles that were sold to K and K Auto Salvage.

West said Phillips told Wilfong that he knew about his nephew taking the vehicles but denied any involvement in the thefts.

Phillips is currently on parole from another county and a suspended imposition of sentence from Jefferson County on theft allegations. He was told to come back to court Sept. 14.
