A $100,000 cash-only bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man on drug and weapons allegations.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jonate Goolsby, 18, with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and violation of the machine gun act.

Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said on Thursday, police vice and narcotics officers received a call about alleged drug activity at an apartment at Country Club Plaza 4201 S. Cherry St., and set up surveillance at about noon.

Detective Richard McCorvy reported that at about 2:20 p.m., a brown Buick pulled into the parking lot and Goolsby walked out of an apartment and got into the car.

Reed said McCorvy immediately went back to the apartment complex to ensure that no one entered or left while other detectives dealt with Goolsby and the driver of the car, Debra Rogers.

Rogers was released pending further investigation and Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney signed a search warrant for the apartment.

Reed then told the court what detectives found.

She then said this.

Reed said Goolsby has identical charges, including violation of the machine gun act pending and prosecutors will be filing paperwork to revoke that bond. He said he would hire his own attorney.
