A $100,000 bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man on drug and weapons-related charges.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jason Simpson, 42, with possession of controlled substance methamphetamine, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor MIrcha King explained the events that led to Simpson’s arrest.

King said Simpson is currently on parole and has been identified as a suspect in other illegal activities.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Simpson.
