The Superintendent of Watson Chapel High School, Jerry Guess spoke to students during an assembly on Thursday afternoon, to address their concerns following Monday’s school shooting that occurred at the Junior High that is connected to the high school.

Some students addressed their issues with the school which included how they felt that  classroom instruction should not be in session this soon after the incident. Students created signs and connected with one another in efforts to grieve and have their voices heard.

Guess responded to those concerns explaining how the students can better cope together. He also mentioned that students have access to counselors and ministers in the community that have volunteered to assist students during school hours. Furthermore, Guess explained briefly about a plan to increase security measures for the safety of the students and faculty and reminded students of their power to overcome anything, even in the midst of unfortunate circumstances.
