The King Cotton Holiday Classic which began Wednesday at the Pine Bluff Convention Center is expected to generate more than $250,000 for the local economy.

That’s according to Ryan Watley, CEO of Go Forward Pine Bluff which brought the tournament back in 2018 after it had been dormant for years.

Watley said he expected the convention center to be filled with people for the three days of the tournament, and hotels, motels and restaurants and gas stations will see a boost in business.

The tournament will end with the crowning of a champion on Friday.
