Midterm Elections are set for November and on the ballot for Pine Bluff and Dollarway citizens is a millage increase to vote to level the taxes as equal for the consolidation of the two districts. On Thursday, Mayor Shirley Washington joined the Oldies 1013 morning show with host Greg Horne who asked her what she knew about the millage and if the community should vote yes.

Horne clarified that the tax increase would stay the same for the Pine Bluff area but the vote would increase Dollarways taxes to the same level. Washington responded this way.

If passed, the millage increase would about to approximately $1 million to help towards the possible construction of a new high school and the fiscal stance of the district. Washington spoke about this and why it’s important to encourage voters.
