Demetrius Nelson

Law enforcement sources have confirmed to Deltaplex News that the suspect arrested in Wednesday morning’s bank robbery of the Oak Park Simmons Bank branch has been identified as 25-year-old Demetrius Nelson from White Hall.

Nelson was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Center at 2:09 p.m.

UPDATE 12:25 P.M.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m. officers from both the Pine Bluff Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported bank robbery at the Simmons Bank branch located at 2628 W 28th Ave. The suspect had presented a note to the clerk demanded money. The suspect then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers and Deputies responded to the area and began searching for the suspect. Within 15 minutes the suspect was taken custody about 3 blocks from the bank and the money was recovered.

The investigation is in the early stages and further details may emerge later. However, at this time we feel this one suspect was the only suspect, and there is no threat to the public. The suspect’s identity is being withheld until they are formally arrested.

The Pine Bluff Police Department would like to extend our gratitude to the members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office who assisted in bringing this incident to such a quick resolution.

Sources have informed Deltaplex News that the Simmons Bank Oak Park branch located at 2628 West 28th Avenue was robbed Wednesday morning sometime around10 a.m.

Sources within the Pine Bluff Police Department have confirmed the robbery, and stated officers responded quickly and were able to arrest a suspect at the scene.
