Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to an UTV crash at approximately 6:32 p.m. Sunday night near Robinson Road near Highway 79 that resulted in the death of one minor and injuries to two other minors.
The JCSO reports that all three minors were ejected from a Polaris Ranger 500 that had overturned. Upon arrival Deputies found one subject unresponsive, a second with severe injuries, and a third with minor injuries. The unresponsive subject passed away at Jefferson Regional hospital.
The report from JCSO states the seatbelts were fastened inside of the side by side, but were not in use by any of the occupants.
Additionally, the minor who stated they were driving the side by side said they could not remember what caused the crash, according to the report.
