The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division and the Newport Police Department have concluded a more than two-year investigation into a deadly shooting at the former Branch High School building in Newport.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on February 5, 2023, during a concert at the Old Branch building on Clay Street. Nineteen-year-old Tamrionna Jarrett of Augusta was killed, and several others suffered gunshot injuries during the large gathering.
Following the lengthy investigation, five suspects were arrested and later pleaded guilty to various charges connected to the shooting.

Tashawn Landers, 24, pleaded guilty on June 25, 2025, to Second Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted Murder, and six felony counts of Committing a Terroristic Act. He was sentenced to 660 months in the Arkansas Division of Correction (ADC).

Steven Dye, 21, pleaded guilty on May 5, 2025, to Second Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted Murder, and six felony counts of Committing a Terroristic Act. He received a 300-month ADC sentence.

Dedrick Robinson, 24, pleaded guilty on March 4, 2024, to felony Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution and three counts of felony Tampering with Physical Evidence. He was sentenced to 240 months in the ADC.

Aaron Warren III, 31, pleaded guilty on June 5, 2024, to felony Committing a Terroristic Act and four counts of felony Aggravated Assault. He was sentenced to 84 months of felony probation with the Arkansas Division of Community Correction (ACC).

Richard McGee, 33, pleaded guilty on June 5, 2024, to felony Committing a Terroristic Act and four felony counts of Aggravated Assault. He also received 84 months of felony probation under ACC supervision.
