Police in Memphis are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and 10 others injured over the weekend.

According to a statement, the shootings occurred at two different locations and at least five of the victims are in critical condition at Memphis hospitals.

Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. released a statement about the incident Sunday and on Monday, spoke to Deltaplex News about it.

Morning show host Greg Horne told Woods that mass shooting incidents like the one in Memphis are hard issues to try and solve.

He then went on to say this.

Horne said that one of the issues to contend with is the belief that if guns are outlawed or made harder to get, it would only affect honest people.

In his statement, Woods said this mass shooting incident is one of 75 that have occurred so far this year and this trend of gun violence is “a devastating and unacceptable reality and it is imperative that we take action to address it.”
