Sheriff Woods discusses county finances

Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr., has taken his complaint about a lack of funding for the jails public, saying Tuesday that he has been forced to buy feminine hygiene products for detainees out of his own pocket.

Woods appeared on the Oldies 1013 morning show Wednesday and was asked about that.

He said he has faced challenges and roadblocks since became sheriff but having to pay for the products for female detainees is ridiculous.”

Morning show host Greg Horne asked Woods if he meant that the money to buy those products came from Woods bank account.

In the past, County Judge Gerald Robinson has said invoices were not paid because they were not coded properly and Woods responded to that .

He mentioned that the department also has a post office box.
