The Sheridan City Council is looking at replacing the roof at the Sheridan Recreation Center with a solar roof.

During the council’s meeting Feb. 6, representatives of Solar Connect and Roof Connect made presentations to the council, according to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper.

A solar roof would be guaranteed for 25 years with a warranty for repairs, including solar panels.

Company representatives said the cost of doing nothing to the existing roof would be $25,000.

The newspaper also reported that the solar roof could cut the cost of electricity from C&L Electric to nearly one-third of its current cost.

Council members said they would like to look closer at the project.
