Pine Bluff Street Department Director Rick Rhoden on Wednesday talked about some of the projects he wants to do this year, including an overlay of Cherry Street which has been held up by the City Council.

Rhoden talked to Deltaplex News about that project.

He said the council was going to debate the issue for about 30 days and said it should come up again at any time.

Rhoden had planned to use a private contractor and said he and the council had talked about doing that so he could catch up on other work.

On another subject, Rhoden said he has been having difficulty hiring workers, particularly truck drivers and spoke in favor of Southeast Arkansas College establishing a truck driving school.
