The Poyen Veterans Memorial Committee will host the third annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Poyen Lindsey Cemetery on Saturday, December 15, 2018.

The ceremony will take place at 10:45am at the Veterans Memorial in the Poyen Lindsey Cemetery.

The purpose of this event is to remember the fallen, to honor those who serve and teach children the value of freedom.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket as those who have served this country are honored.  The Poyen Veterans Committee also encourages the public to dedicate a memorial in honor of those who served.  The ceremony will be a time to remember the dedication to this country as well as the lives of those who have fallen.

Following the ceremony, wreaths will be placed on each veteran’s grave.  A total of 175 wreaths are needed for this and can be purchased with a $15 sponsorship.  Grave specific wreaths are also available if a loved one will be receiving a wreath that individuals want to sponsor.  The deadline to sponsor a wreath is Tuesday, November 20, 2018.

For each sponsorship, a wreath will be placed at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C., another at the war memorial at Poyen and $5 will go to the committee to maintain the Veterans Memorial.

The local ceremony is part of the national Wreaths Across America Movement.  More information is available by contacting Krista Moore at 501.467.6965 or [email protected].  Individuals may also contact Lt. Col. Clyde Watson at 501.467.0761.
