The State Board of Education voted Friday afternoon to return the Pine Bluff School District to local control.
The board made their decision at a meeting at the Pine Bluff Convention Center which followed presentations by interim board president Dr. Cedric Rice, Superintendent Jennifer Barbaree and Stacy Smith of the State Department of Education.
The vote by the board was unanimous.
The decision by the board is effective immediately.
