When the Marriott Hotel opens adjacent to the Pine Bluff Convention Center, it is expected to draw a number of groups and organizations back to Pine Bluff. Those groups and organizations held meetings at the convention center for years but relocated when the adjacent hotel fell into disrepute and later closed.
On Thursday, Joseph McCorvy, director of the Convention Center was asked what types of groups he will approach to come back to when the hotel opens.
McCorvy appeared on the Oldies 1013 morning show and host Greg Horne mentioned sporting events like SWAC and Great American Conference tournaments.
McCorvy went on to mention that in addition to the Marriott hotel, the Saracen Casino is constructing a hotel and talked about dealing with overflow from the two businesses.
He also stressed how close the two hotels will be to each other.
