An elderly Hot Springs resident was killed and two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident in Hot Springs Monday.

According to a preliminary report, the victim, Charles Coburn, 81, was inside an RV that was parked on the northside of Thornton Ferry Road when the RV was hit by a 2018 Ford F150 that had crossed the center line of the roadway while traveling south.

After the collision, the RV then hit a second RV that was also parked, injuring Paula Paul, no age listed, also of Hot Spring who was inside.

Coburn was pronounced dead at the scene and Paul and the driver of the truck, Daniel Chavez, 37, of Hot  Springs were injured and taken to a Hot Springs hospital.

The accident was reported at 4:27 p.m. and the death was the 540th so far this year on the state’s highways.
