One person was killed and a second injured in a one-vehicle accident in Monroe County Friday afternoon.
According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Horace Ware, 84, of Dewitt was northbound on State Highway 1 when the 2004 Chevrolet Impala he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.
He was killed and a passenger, Paula Ware, 62, also of Dewitt was injured.
The accident was reported at 5:53 p.m. and the death was the 597th recorded so far this year on the state’s highways.
