A three-vehicle accident in rural Jefferson County Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of a North Little Rock man.

According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Cantrell Wine, 38, was northbound on I-530 near mile marker 27 in the left land when he failed to maintain control of the 2004 Chevrolet he driving and struck two vehicles, a 2023 Toyota and a 2017 Hyundai that were also northbound and in the right lane.

After impact, Wine’s vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.

He was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital where he died.

According to the report, the drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.

The accident was reported at 12:58 p.m. and the death was the 565th in 2023 on the state’s highways.
