29-year-old Marlo Carter, who has been charged with Capital Murder in the slaying of Pine Bluff businessman Richard “Dickie” Ratliff, has been charged with additional crimes.

Carter appeared before Judge Kim Bridgforth Wednesday after being accused of pointing a gun at another person at an apartment on Linden Street on October 11.

Detective Chris Wieland said that officers picked up an individual that was wanted for questioning in a forgery incident and brought him to the detective office. During an interview of that suspect, the man said he was at an apartment in the 1000 block of Linden Street Oct. 11 “hanging out with a friend” when there was a knock on the door.

The suspect said he answered the door and Carter came into the room and hit him in the face with a handgun. The man stated that Carter asked him “where is the money”. The man said he did not know what Carter was talking about, the stated that Carter handed the gun to another individual and told that person to shoot him. The alleged victim said the second person refused and gave the gun back to Carter when he and Carter then struggled over the gun. The alleged victim said he got up and ran away as Carter fired shots at him.

When detectives questioned Carter on the second charge, he said he had pointed a gun at the alleged victim and stated that “if he had wanted (the victim) dead he would have killed him.”

A $25,000 cash bond was ordered by Bridgforth after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Carter was also ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case has been settled.

Carter is also being held with no bond in the murder of Ratliff.
