A Monticello man was killed in a one-vehicle accident in Drew County Tuesday afternoon.
According to a preliminary report, Othello King, 76, was eastbound on Arkansas Highway 138 in a 2003 Buick Lesabre at about 4:30 p.m.
A witness in a vehicle that was behind the Buick said the vehicle was swerving and going slow and when it neared the intersection of Grizzle Lane, the vehicle sped up, went off the roadway into a ditch on the north side of the roadway and came to rest against a culvert.
King was pronounced dead at the scene by the Drew County Coroner.
The death was the 115th so far this year on the state’s highways.
