The Arkansas Historical Preservation Fund has awarded money to the Monticello Downtown Network to help small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Advance Monticellonian newspaper, the Downtown Network includes the town square and off the square in each direction. The money must be used for utility bill assistance during the months of November 2020 through February 2021 and no matching funds are required.

The newspaper said the money is intended for customer related businesses that have seen a drop in revenue and residential properties are not eligible for this award. Funds are intended to assist businesses with 10 or fewer employees.

Applications should be submitted to Monticello Downtown Network c/o Monticello-Drew County Chamber of Commerce, 315 E. Gaines St., Monticello. AR 71655.
