Early voting begins Tuesday for the special election on extending the five-eights cent sales tax, commonly called the Go Forward Tax, and a separate three-eights cent tax devoted to public safety.

Appearing on the Oldies 1013 morning show Friday, Mike Adam, chairman of the Jefferson County Election Commission said early voting will continue through the end of the week, except for Friday, Nov. 11, which the county will celebrate as Veteran’s Day since that holiday actually falls on Saturday.

Early voting will conclude on Monday, Nov. 13 at the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Tuesday, Nov. 14, the polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

In addition to the two sales tax increases, voters in the Watson Chapel School District will also vote on a millage issue on election day.
