The McGehee City Council last week approved a request allowing Mayor Jeff Owyoung to apply for a grant for a FUN Park grant from the state.

McGehee is asking for almost $100,000 for the grant to improve the McGehee Park complex, including adding a 40 x 40 foot pavilion with a 46 x 46nfoot concrete slab with electrical service, adding sidewalks to connect the walking trail, ADA ramps and other items.

The Mayor said the grant would be awarded in October.

Council members were also reminded about the Aug. 8 special election to extend the current sales tax. If that tax does not pass, the city would lose half-a-million annually.
