One person was killed and a second injured in a one-vehicle accident in Hot Spring County Sunday.
According to a preliminary report, a 2002 GMC driven by Lane Ballard, 28, was northbound on U.S. Highway 67/Noth Giles Road when the vehicle failed to negotiate a left curve. The vehicle left the roadway on the east side, traveled through the ditch before hitting a utility pole and overturning on its left side.
A passenger in the vehicle, Vickie Ballard, 62, of Malvern was killed and the driver, Lane Ballard was injured and taken to a hospital in Hot Springs.
The accident was reported at 9:21 p.m. and the death was the 58th so far this year on the state’s highwys.
