The Drew County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Wilmar man in connection with a shooting incident that occurred at a local apartment complex on September 30, 2025.
According to Sheriff Tim Nichols, deputies responded to reports of suspects allegedly breaking into vehicles at the complex. When confronted by residents, one suspect began firing shots toward individuals standing on a balcony.
Deputies launched an investigation and collected evidence from the scene, which led to the arrest of ZyTavious Chavis, 23, of Wilmar, on October 3. Chavis is charged with Aggravated Assault, two counts of Breaking or Entering, and a Terroristic Act.
Authorities say Chavis was already out on bond for a separate case stemming from a July 20, 2025, incident in which he was accused of shooting another person. His bond in that case was originally set at $200,000 before being reduced to $20,000, and he had been ordered to wear an ankle monitor in connection with the Bradley County incident.
Sheriff Nichols said the investigation into the September 30 shooting remains ongoing.
