Pine Bluff, AR—Attorney Joe West today announces his candidacy for the open position of Prosecuting Attorney for the 11th Judicial District—West.

“We will have a new prosecutor in this district for the first time in sixteen years, making this election crucial for Jefferson and Lincoln County residents,” West said. “Our community needs a prosecutor who truly cares, is prepared to lead, and will take charge from day one. This is more than just a job to me. I am committed to the people, and as a member of this community, I am invested in working with other leaders to restore our community’s reputation. This is not the time for an elected official who needs on-the-job training or plans to spend their term settling in. Our community needs a prosecutor familiar with the current landscape, prepared to lead and restore this community’s reputation on day one. I know I am the leader who can get us there.”

West’s qualifications and experience make him an ideal candidate and a welcomed presence on the ballot this election season. He has over a decade of legal practice in Arkansas, more than half of that in prosecuting felony cases. Currently, he serves the 11th judicial district as a deputy prosecuting attorney, with prior experience in the 20th and 6th Judicial Districts.

Before joining the 11th Judicial District, West was the Criminal Justice Counsel for Governor Asa Hutchinson, advising on pardons, extraditions, corrections, and criminal law legislation. He has also served as an Assistant Attorney General for Arkansas, representing state boards, commissions, and agencies in industry and regulatory matters.

“I’ve had the privilege of serving this community as a deputy prosecutor, but I look forward to serving as this district’s next elected prosecutor. I’ve been on the sidelines, but now it’s time. I am ready to step in, take the lead, and collaborate with other community members to get our district back on track and rebuild its reputation. I have strong plans for the 11th Judicial—West office. My familiarity with this community will help us preserve the good things we have while improving operations. We need a capable leader who can make well-informed decisions in the best interest of this community. Jefferson and Lincoln Counties need a prosecutor willing to challenge the status quo when it’s not working. We need a leader who prioritizes the people, takes responsibility, and will do what is right and just for this district and its residents.”
