Unemployment in Cleveland County for March was below the national average but above the state average.

According to the Cleveland County Herald, the county’s rate was 4.0 percent, a drop of half a percent from February when the rate was 4.5 percent.

The state unemployment rate was fixed at 3.7 percent in April, compared to the national rate of 4.2 percent for the same month.

According to Workforce Services, the county has a workforce of 3,017 people, with 11 of them jobless.

The county’s current rate is lower than the rate of surrounding counties, the newspaper reported.

Grant County had the lowest rate for the month at 3.2 percent. Dallas and Calhoun Counties had a rate equal to Cleveland County’s rate, and Drew County had a 4.4 percent rate.

The highest unemployment rate in Southeast Arkansas was 6.2 percent in Bradley County. Jefferson and Lincoln Counties had rates of 5.2 percent.
