The University of Arkansas at Monticello has received a $750,000 grant to renovate an art facility from the Wingate Foundation.
According to the Advance Monticelloian newspaper, the funds will be used to transfer the art facility from the Visual and Performing Arts Center to the Red Barn on campus, which will be renovated into classroom and studio space for the art program.
The newspaper reported that the Red Barn has been used for a number of activities including serving as a campus theater space and a meeting space for student organizations.
This was the fourth grant to UAM since 2020 from the Wingate Foundation, which was founded in 1993 and is a private, family foundation based in Little Rock.
