Two Pine Bluff men were arrested Monday on drug and weapons charges.
Charles McNew Jr., 37, and Javreon McGowan, 23, were taken into custody after police vice and narcotics officers and agents of the drug task force served a search warrant at a Pine Bluff residence. At about 1 p.m.
Reading from an affidavit by Detective Lee Freeman, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said officers forced entry to the residence when they could not get anyone to answer the door.
Alexander said McNew is out on bond stemming from a prior drug arrest and prosecutors will be filing a petition to revoke that bond. He also has a second dug case pending. Because of those pending cases, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $25,000 cash only bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge McNew with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver and two counts of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.
A $75,000 secured bond was set for McGowan, who has no prior convictions or pending charges, on the same allegations and both men were told to come back to court April 24.
