A traffic stop by White Hall Police Saturday resulted in the arrest of two men on drug and weapons charges.
Kendrick Thorn, 25, of Conway and Keon Smith, 23, of Pine Bluff were taken into custody after officers stopped the car Smith was driving for speeding.
Reading from an affidavit by White Hall Police Officer Charles Treadway, Prosecuting Attorney Kyle Hunter explained the circumstances that led to the arrest.
Hunter went on to say Smith was the driver of the car.
When he was interviewed, Smith said the marijuana was hit but he did not know anything about the gun. Thorn told police the gun belonged to Smith.
Because he is on parole, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $25,000 cash only bond for Thorn after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with violation of the uniform machine gun act and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
A $25,000 secured bond was set for Smith on charges of violation of the uniform machine gun act, possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.
Both were told to come back to court Aug. 6.
