The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary that occurred late Wednesday morning on Highway 35 south of Rison.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched around 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 26 after a citizen reported interrupting a burglary in progress at a residence. The witness told deputies that as he approached the home, a newer-model gray Dodge truck sped past him, with items from the residence falling out of the back of the vehicle.
Deputies immediately began searching the area and alerted surrounding counties with the suspect and vehicle description. A short time later, a truck matching the description was spotted at a residence in Lincoln County. Sheriff Steve Young notified Cleveland County investigators, prompting Lt. Michael Poss, Sheriff Young, and Lincoln County deputies to respond to the location.
During the investigation, authorities found items linking the individuals at the residence to the earlier burglary. The probe resulted in the arrest of Scotty McDonald, 36, and Jessica Ludlum, 36, both of Lincoln County.
McDonald and Ludlum were taken into custody on charges of burglary and theft. They remain jailed as the investigation continues.
