Suspect Taken Into Custody After Overnight SWAT Standoff in Grant County

A tense overnight law enforcement operation that began Saturday night and stretched into the early hours of Sunday morning ended with a suspect in custody following reports of a barricaded individual, gunfire, and a hostage situation near the Grant County Fairgrounds.

According to information obtained by Deltaplex News, 39-year-old Justin Siler was booked into the Sheridan Detention Center at approximately 1:51 a.m. Sunday by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office after surrendering to authorities. No injuries were reported.

The incident began Saturday night when multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a residence near Grant County Road 69 after receiving reports that a suspect may have barricaded himself inside a home with a hostage and fired shots in the direction of responding officers.

Sources indicated to Deltaplex News that officers initially believed a hostage was being held inside the residence. By 10:55 p.m. Saturday, the hostage was confirmed to have been safely rescued as Arkansas State Police (ASP) tactical units advanced toward the home.

As the situation escalated, authorities reported gunfire at the scene. By late Saturday night, sources clarified that only the suspect had fired shots and that law enforcement had not returned fire during that phase of the standoff.

Throughout the night, additional Arkansas State Police troopers were called in, along with armored vehicles. An ASP helicopter was also deployed and remained overhead as tactical teams prepared to move in.

At approximately 1:25 a.m. Sunday, the suspect surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody, bringing the standoff to an end.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet released further details regarding charges or the events leading up to the standoff.
