The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday morning in Fordyce, according to state and local authorities.
At the request of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, ASP special agents were called in to lead the investigation following the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:38 a.m. on Dec. 31, in the 2000 block of Parkwood Lane.
According to officials, deputies with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Fordyce Police Department were attempting to serve a warrant on a wanted 35-year-old suspect at his residence when the encounter escalated. Authorities said the suspect was located inside the home and was armed with a firearm when officers fired, striking him multiple times.
The suspect, who was identified to Deltaplex News as Jackson Parham, is a probation and parole absconder with an active felony failure-to-appear warrant. He was transported by medical helicopter to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Officials said he is listed in stable condition.
Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedl said two sheriff’s deputies and one Fordyce police officer were involved in the shooting. He confirmed that no law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
“I am blessed to report that no law enforcement officers were injured during this incident,” Knoedl said in a statement. “The suspect was flown to UAMS and is reported to be in stable condition at this time.”
Knoedl also said the two deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave with pay, which is standard protocol following an officer-involved shooting.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division will prepare a case file and submit it to the Dallas County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether the use of lethal force was consistent with Arkansas law.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details are expected to be released once the review is complete.
