A man was taken into custody Monday after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase along Interstate 530 that ended in a crash near Redfield.
According to authorities, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police around 11:15 a.m. regarding a pursuit involving a northbound vehicle on I-530.
State police troopers assumed the lead in the pursuit around 11:30 a.m. Officials identified the suspect as 29-year-old Deandre Brothers, who was wanted on charges of terroristic threatening, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
Investigators said Brothers reached speeds of nearly 125 miles per hour and nearly collided with multiple vehicles during the pursuit.
Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle by performing a PIT maneuver near the Redfield exit. The vehicle crossed the median into the southbound lanes and collided with a van. Authorities said the driver of the van was not injured.
Brothers exited his vehicle following the crash and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Arkansas State Police Col. Mike Hagar said the suspect’s actions placed numerous motorists at risk.
Additional charges against Brothers are pending.
